Update Nov. 16th, 2020: Temporary Closure of the FH Kufstein Tirol

Due to the intensified lockdown in Austria - starting from Nov. 17th, 2020 - the building of the FH Kufstein Tirol is preventively closed. University operation is solely online.

The study and teaching operations of the FH Kufstein Tirol are maintained by Distance Learning and mobile working. The building of the FH Kufstein Tirol, as well as the Infopoint, Cafe.04, Diner and the FH library/kubi are closed. The measures are expected to remain in place until Dec. 6th, 2020.

The health of university members has the highest priority, as well as ensuring students have access to course content and can complete another semester without restrictions or delays. If the overall situation relaxes, all university members will be informed immediately about appropriate adjustments in the study and teaching operations.

More Updates

Due to the new lockdown in Austria from Nov. 3rd, 2020, the operations at the FH Kufstein Tirol will be adjusted preventively.

The FH Kufstein Tirol’s hybrid organizational form will continue unhindered, but distance learning will be drastically increased. Particularly important in-person teaching will still take place on campus under strict hygiene measures (e.g. lab work and research).

The FH Kufstein Tirol will remain open to provide necessary services on site.

Effective immediately, the free learning and recreation zones for students and visitors will be closed, including the Brown Study work area and the reading rooms in the library. For group work, we strongly recommend for all students switch to virtual meetings!

Still available with limited opening hours are the FH library/kubi (only lending and return) and Cafe.04 & Diner (only take away).

Rising numbers of infections and increasingly restrictive Covid-19 measures by states, regions and employers, which make it more and more difficult for students and lecturers to travel to Kufstein, require a rapid adjustment of university operations.

The use of online teaching methods within the current hybrid organizational form of the FH Kufstein Tirol will therefore temporarily be increased. Where necessary, important lectures will continue to take place in person on campus.

Despite the current tightened government measures to contain the corona pandemic, the FH Kufstein Tirol can continue its studies unhindered.

The measures put in place by the State of Tyrol do not affect the operation of the FH Kufstein Tirol. The mixture of online and in-person teaching as well as our consistent hygiene and prevention concept make a safe coexistence on campus possible. Our gratitude goes to all university members: students, lecturers and service staff who support and implement the measures with great discipline.

Solely the Cafe.04 and Diner on campus now operate with restricted opening hours and mandatory registration via QR code or completed written form. New opening hours: Mon-Thurs: 8 AM – 1 PM; Fri: 8 AM - 4 PM; Sat: 8 AM to 1 PM.

Students are recommended to carry an official commuter certificate for crossing the border, issued by the FH Kufstein Tirol.

This commuter certificate is necessary for all German students at the FH Kufstein Tirol for entering Austria and returning to Germany, as well as Austrian students at the FH Kufstein Tirol who live in Germany.

You can download the application form in the student portal fh.checkin. The completed form can be submitted for approval digitally via the Study Management ticket system. The approved commuter certificate will be sent to your student e-mail address.

Important information for crossing the border:

  • The commuter certificate from the FH Kufstein Tirol must be stamped, signed and printed in color and is to be presented at the border upon request.
  • The obligation to present a valid passport or passport substitute and, if applicable, a valid residence permit remains unaffected.
  • If traveling by car, the commuter certificate can be placed in the windshield to speed up the inspection.
  • Students are recommended to have their student card and a current confirmation of enrollment with them.
  • Austrian students living in Germany should also have a confirmation of registration from Germany with them.

External lecturers are advised to request an additional confirmation from HR Management ( personalfh-kufstein.ac.at) stating they are teaching as an external lecturer at the FH Kufstein Tirol.

Since Friday, September 25, 2020, there is also a German travel warning for Tyrol. The course of study is currently not impaired by this warning, as commuters and persons who stay less than 48 hours in Austria (Tyrol) continue to be able to enter and depart without restrictions.

Since many lectures are also held in presence at the FH Kufstein Tirol, we ask you to pay attention to the direct information of the respective study courses.
