Reunion of the Attractive Tourism Consortium

03.05.2023 | Research
The Interreg project Attractive Tourism (AB256) was successfully completed in June 2022. However, the cooperation of the project partners is far from over: On April 6, 2023, participants met in Kufstein for a reunion.

The agenda was dominated by two primary events: A round table discussion forum of all project partners and a fireside chat featuring a talk by an expert. University Rector Prof. (FH) PD Dr. Mario Döller opened the two-part event on the Kufstein campus. Afterwards, the participants discussed further future potentials of the successful collaboration during the round table. For the University of Applied Sciences (FH) Kufstein Tirol, Prof. (FH) DDr. Mario Situm, Prof. (FH) Dr. Alexandra Brunner-Sperdin, and Lukas Hartleif, MA, were in attendance. The project lead, the University of Applied Sciences (FH) Salzburg, was represented by FH-Prof. Dr. Mario Jooss. Dipl.-Kfm. Stephan Semmelmayr, Head of the Tourism Association, arrived from Chiemgau, and Andrea Haas, MA, from the Standortagentur Tirol, completed the group.

Sustainable tourism must also be attractive to employees

The highlight of the fireside chat was an exciting lecture by MMag. Katie Tropper, supported by Barbara Smits, MA. She emphasized that successful tourism must offer guests value and benefit employees and locals. Therefore, the Wilder Kaiser Tourist Association focuses on quality rather than quantity in the tourism industry. Six fields of action ensure that the region can live up to its vision: Responsibility for Nature, Quality of Life at Wilder Kaiser, Social Responsibility, Regional Cycles, Enabling Joint Experiences in the Region, and Working in Tourism. The key takeaway is that collaboration is a crucial component for sustainable, socially compatible tourism that is also attractive to employees and the local communities. Managing Director Mag. Esther Jennings from the Euregio Inntal office also emphasized the importance of the efforts.

The fireside chat was certified as a basic Green Event Tyrol, which helps ensure that not only the cooperation of the project partners is sustainable but also the event that brings them together.
