Banking Award
Sparkasse Kufstein in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol (FH Kufstein Tirol) provides the Banking Award. The prize is geared toward students of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein who are writing their bachelor and/or master’s thesis in the area of Banking & Finance.

Submission & requirements
Your bachelor and/or master’s thesis was submitted no later than September 30, 2023 for examination and was evaluated with the grade of Excellent or Good.
The topics covered have a connection to Banking & Finance in the broadest sense.
Possible topic areas:
- Recent developments in banking including marketing, client communication, personnel management, sales, or also digital transformation
- SME financing including the rise of modern financing instruments
- (Credit) risk management for credit institutes and companies
- Money and capital market (instruments) including commodities and currencies
- Management accounting for SMEs
- Family-owned companies (such as corporate succession, digital transformation, internationalization, etc.)
Other topic areas can also be submitted that are demonstrably related to Banking & Finance (including a justification before submission). The experts on the jury decide whether this condition is met.

Prize money
The prize money is distributed to two categories of bachelor and master’s theses.
Bachelor's theses
- 1st place: EUR 400.00
- 2nd place: EUR 300.00
- 3rd place: EUR 100.00
Master's theses
- 1st place: EUR 600.00
- 2nd place: EUR 400.00
- 3rd place: EUR 200.00

Assessment & jury
All submissions are evaluated by an expert jury. The group of experts is selected in such a way that both the practical and scientific claims of the submissions can be thoroughly checked and assessed. The jury consists of two members of FH Kufstein Tirol and Sparkasse Kufstein respectively.

Students who win one of the first three places also receive a certificate of participation that shows the place that they achieved.

1st Banking Award awarded
Students at FH Kufstein Tirol had until the end of October 2022 to turn in their bachelor and master’s theses for evaluation that were assessed with a grade of Excellent or Good and submitted them for the 1st Banking Award from Sparkasse Kufstein. The expert jury consisting of representatives from Sparkasse Kufstein and FH Kufstein Tirol evaluated the theses by the following criteria:
- Science
Scientific quality of the academic paper and the contribution to further development of the scientific research field - Business
Business relevance of the topic and elaboration of the practical implications - Innovation
Novelty of the results and innovation of the implementation
The award ceremony for the 1st Banking Award took place on November 21, 2022 at Sparkasse Kufstein, and the first three award winners were able to be honored.
