Learning outcomes of course unit

The students are able to:
• Identify the essential components and institutions of an economy and explain how they work.
• Name macroeconomic indicators such as gross domestic product or consumer price index and interpret their content.
• Independently research indicators for economic growth and inflation and present current developments.
• Identify and critically reflect on both the potential and limitations of macroeconomic models.
• Evaluate aspects of sustainable recycling management and assess the natural limits of economic development.
• Discuss the main effects of fiscal and monetary policy and to take a differentiated view of the consequences of public debt.
• Understand current developments from the press on the basis of data and place them in a model context.
