Networks and reunion: 460 graduates at the FH Kufstein Tirol HomeComing
Some love these reunions while others are apprehensive. The big class reunion of FH Kufstein Tirol, the HomeComing 2018, seems more like a family gathering with 460 guests, which is a sign that most graduates look back fondly on their time at the polytechnic. “Some alumni even traveled great distances in order to be there for the big reunion. This year, some graduates traveled from Harrogate in England or Ajka in Hungary to see their former classmates again,” as Jennifer Krüger, BA of the Alumni & Career Services of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol happily stated.
Many graduates of the polytechnic in Kufstein not only attend the annual reunion, but also support the polytechnic team in the development of new products, pass on their knowledge as external teachers or provide insight into their work as guest lecturers. In this function, they sometimes also succeed in recruiting graduates of FH Kufstein Tirol as new employees or students as interns. Thus, alumni can search for workplaces at the polytechnic in the same familiar atmosphere that they experienced as students.
Exchange of experiences and reunion with classmates
Students of FH Kufstein already learn during their studies that networking and the cultivation of contacts are essential for their professional future. They establish contacts with representatives from companies, industry and trade associations at congresses, symposiums and other events. “However, our graduates are especially drawn to the polytechnic by the thought of seeing their classmates again and reviving old friendships many years after graduation. Former students talk about their jobs and benefit from the experiences of their colleagues,” said Krüger.
The task of the Alumni & Career Services is to make it possible for graduates to stay in contact. The polytechnic holds an annual HomeComing to which all alumni are invited so that they can reestablish these contacts in person.
Ten-year graduation anniversary of seven degree programs
The guests of honor at the HomeComing 2018 were the graduates from the last diploma years in International Business Studies, Facility Management, Real Estate Management & Facility Management, Sports, Culture & Events Management, IT & Business as well as the first bachelor years in European Energy Management and the first master years in Crisis and Recovery Management. Alumni celebrated their ten-year graduation anniversary and were honored with a separate and exclusive anniversary celebration.
