Graduate year 2008
- Why did you decide to attend the full-time, bachelor degree program Facility & Real Estate Management? What makes it such a special program in your eyes? When I finished secondary school, I asked myself what I wanted to do with my life. I looked at some guide books and searched the Internet and other media sources for some ideas, and in the end it was the real estate business that inspired me the most. And when I looked into it some more, I realized that it is much more varied and much more exciting than I originally thought. I actually came across the FH Kufstein and the degree program Facility & Real Estate Management by chance in a newspaper, and in the meantime I have almost completed the degree. What I have especially appreciated in the program is how theory and practice are combined. We interact closely with lecturers who are professionals in various fields and do not only teach out of books; they give us many insights into the aspects we should pay particular attention to in the profession. In my opinion this is the best way to learn.
- Which courses have you attended so far and what have you learned in or through them?
Since the degree program covers such a broad field, I would say that I have attended a very large range of valuable courses – both in real estate management as well as in facility management. My favorite subjects were “Real Estate Valuation & Financing”, “Innovative Construction”, “Building Construction”, “Controlling”, “Energy Management”, and “Building Optimization”. I was even able to apply a lot of this new knowledge to my work in the internship, especially with regard to valuating properties and setting up financing plans.
- Have you already worked on any projects at the FH Kufstein? What did the projects deal with? How did you contribute to the projects?
In the fourth semester we worked on a case study that dealt mainly with research projects and the adaptation of recently analyzed applications of various tools. Three classmates and I took over the case “Web Marketing”. In this project we worked on concepts for presenting the FH Kufstein in social networks and on the installation of a suitable questionnaire tool for the FH. One of my tasks was to filter out three tools – from a pool of many existing tools – that best met the requirements of the FH. I then compared these three tools and finally chose the most appropriate one for implementation.
- What are your career aspirations?
I am currently doing my internship at the Sparkasse SREAL, a real estate company, and I already have a job offer from them for when I graduate. Nevertheless, I would also like to go on to do a master’s, whereby I would definitely specialize in real estate management. Because I really enjoy my job at the Sparkasse, I could see myself working there while studying part-time in a graduate program. Well, let’s see where the future takes me.
