Cultural Insights Into the City of Turin
From May 15-20, 2022, students could experience the unique flair of the city of Turin, Italy. Two faculty members of the degree program, Prof. (FH) Dr. Claudia Stura and Mark Romanelli, MBA, guided students in the planning and organization of the trip, but also accompanied the group to Italy. The week’s program, diligently curated by the students themselves, offered a rich variety of insights into Turin’s sports, culture, and event industries. In addition, students also had ample opportunity to explore the geography and history of the city itself.
Varied program with a particular focus on culture
Highlights of the program included a guided tour by the PR and Communications Director of the City of Turin, who also took the group to the Frida Kahlo exhibition. This was followed by a tour of the innovation hub and event location OGR Torino and a visit to the impressive exhibition Hermès in the Making. During a sightseeing tour of the city, the students explored Turin on foot, learning much about Italy’s erstwhile capital. They also visited the automobile museum and the royal palace. Finally, they had the opportunity to talk to a former soccer and event manager about the development of sports management in Turin. Despite various obstacles and some last-minute changes to the program, the study trip turned out to be a great success. Students and faculty alike were able to boost their knowledge and returned home with many fond memories.
